Food Pantry/Team Building

This project is to introduce the prevalence of child hunger and poverty around the country. I accompany that with a teambuilding activity. Can be personalized based on size of your class.

"How do you respond to a love one who is in a state of crisis?" "How do you respond when faced with significant adversity?" Questions (along with many others) are answered with this outreach project.

Backpacks for Homeless

Increased education on poverty and the challenges faced with our most vulnerable community members in the winter are discussed with this project. Donation drive along with collaboration with a warming center.

Acts of Kindness Checklist

This is a reflective and planning project that offers students to create a "Community Outreach Bucket List." Challenge students to do them collectively, and individually outside of the classroom.

Clean Your Neighborhood

Identify ways that the class can contribute to a cleaner community. Offer an outreach opportunity for students to clean their local environment. I use "The Lorax" as a connection to this project as well.

Random Eggs of Kindness

Based on the "Love Letters to Strangers" Ted Talk, students are tasked to write notes of kindness inside Easter eggs (with a piece of candy) and distribute them around the school. Incentive opportunity as well.

Our daily interactions, demeanor, and energy that we bring to others are more "infectious" than we will ever recognize. This is a reflective mini-unit with a challenge attached. Website

A story of how a group of students raised awareness and money for the Children's Cancer Research Fund, and was recognized by singing "Clouds" at the Mall of America.
